Week 1

The Citadel, Cairo, Egypt

Hello everybody

Greetings from Egypt

Thanks for technology which makes the world as a small village.

Although I have been teaching and learning English for more than 25 years, this is the first time to be involved in an online course. I am very excited to experience new tools of teaching and exchange my ideas with other teachers with different background. This is the first time to creat a blog. It took me much time to creat it.

I'd like very much to make good use of blog to improve my students' language skills.
lately, I have surfed a lot of interesting websites we can use in our classes and in professional development sessions as well.

Some of them are

  1. Hi Samira, this looks really nice. Bravo! I think you will find that taking an online course can be very satisfying. Before I started teaching online, I was skeptical that any real learning could happen this way. But I was so so wrong! I hope you enjoy the term.

  4. Hello Samira,

Thank you for sharing your blog with us, your colleague teachers from different countries.

Online courses may seem new to some of us, but… why don’t we reflect on how paper from papyrus was made, the technology used in that process and how privileged were those who were able to read and write? No doubt we are privileged teachers who were offered an excellent online course precisely to master web skills. There is always a beginning, and if this is your first time, no doubt you will like it so much that there is no doubt you will engage in all you can. Congratulations for being so enthusiastic with this course.

    Kindest regards,

    Fernando

    1. Hello Fernando.

Thank you for encouragement. One of the reasons makes me joined the course that most of our students these days are not good at using technology but also interacte actively in classes when teachers use technology.

      Regards,

  6. Hi Batool, Alsalam Aliakum

Nice to meet you Batool.I am very glad to gain another Sudanees freind. I have already two freinds ( one from Khartum and one from OM Durman).
Actually this is the first time to create a blog. In addition the first time to hear about Nicenet. They are wonderful tools which would affect our students' performance positively.
Concerning using Bolgs in the classroom, you can use it in teaching writing. Some recommendatins: After teaching how to write a paragraph, ask Ss to create blogs, ask them to write sample paragraphs, then ask them to evaluate their writings according to a cheklist you may design.

    goodluck
